    Pray for America

    November 25, 2018

My heart was set on a sunny Saturday. Of course, it came in

cold, cloudy and windy. But my friends were game for the beach so we jumped into the Land Cruiser and headed for Mullaloo.

We tumbled onto the sand wearing jackets, pants, and hats. Emily and Marion were content chatting along the water’s edge. Samantha wanted to read tucked up beside the dunes. I headed out on my two-kilometer power walk.

I didn’t feel entirely cheated by the weather, acknowledging the Indian Ocean's magnificent pastel blue, even with white caps and spitting surf.

Nearly finished with my walk I looked back and spotted Emily and Marion huddling half a kilometer back. I sensed God was up to something. When I reached them we came to a quick consensus that we needed to pray for America.

Marion said America needs a spiritual revival. The wildfires in California, the multiple shootings and issues with broken families tugged at her heart. She felt an urgency for prayerful intercession so we formed a tight circle on the sand and called on the Lord to lead us. And then the prayers poured out, for families, multiple victims, and spiritual revival.

It’s funny how God works. My mind was set on sun, sand, and surf and God had his mind on his people. It took the young woman from Shanghai to get it right.

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18: 20.

The meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Psalm 37: 11

    Love and blessings,

    Rich H.
