It’s not that Jesus has the power to set me free. Jesus is the power to set me free. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and surrendered my life to Him He became the true power in my life. It’s not Rich and Jesus. It is simply Jesus.
Jesus doesn’t just help us overcome sin - He defeated sin in our lives by dying on the cross two thousand years ago. When He came into our lives sin was forever defeated.
The key to victory over sin is having faith that the transaction has already taken place. Believing this is what makes it a reality. Sin was defeated at Calvary. Sin no longer holds us hostage. Our faith has set us free.
Sometimes we must come to the end of ourselves in order to discover the truth of our freedom in Jesus Christ. By faith we are set free from the law of sin and death.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for taking my hurts, hang-ups, and habits with you to the cross. May your sacrifice on my behalf help others see how you've changed my life. I've been set free forever by your sacrifice, Amen.
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 8: 13-14
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. Romans 6: 6
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 1 John 5: 4
