Virtue isn’t a word I use much. It's not something that crosses my mind. Do I even care about being virtuous?

A Bible commentary says virtue is a quality that comes from God and describes moral excellence. But I don’t have a virtuous bone in my body. it's the virtue of Jesus that we should be discussing here. I only have faith and belief in Jesus as the virtuous one.

I was raised from the dead because of my baptism in Jesus, by the resurrection power of God’s only son. The resurrection power that now resides in me through the Holy Spirit enables me to live a righteous, holy and virtuous life.

Just like every other trait I wasn’t able to live out before I was born again, virtue becomes my inheritance as I enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ. He is my elder brother who comes into my heart, bringing the sonship that I inherited from our heavenly father.

I can stop trying to be virtuous. No amount of personal effort will ever get me there. Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for empowering me with the Holy Spirit to live a righteous, holy and virtuous life pleasing to God. Amen!

“Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1: 2-4

Love and blessings,
