What is truth?

I was challenged recently to define truth. My immediate answer was, “the bible is the truth.” I could just as easily have said, “Jesus is the truth.” The man questioning me shook his head, got up and left the men's group without saying another word.

Maybe this guy considered truth to be relative. 3 questions can determine one's truth: 1, What exists, both seen and unseen? 2. Where do we come from? 3. Where are we going?

We could add 3 more questions: 1. What is true for me? 2. How do I define good and evil? 3. What constitutes right action?

I hold a biblical worldview, believing that the bible is the living word of God. But a worldview is not static. Our minds receive and process information every day and our worldview can change with every new stimulus.

How do you perceive truth? Do you believe in a higher power who has ultimate control? Do you entertain doubts about the origin of the universe or whether God is looking after your best interests?

investing time and effort in studying the bible, in prayer and fellowship with Christians has brought me to the conclusion that God is in control of everything and loves me with a strength and depth of love I won’t fully comprehend until I encounter my Savior face to face. What about you?

Do not withhold your tender mercies from me, oh Lord; let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me. For innumerable evils have surrounded me. Psalm 40: 11-12

And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12: 2

Love and blessings,
