Nine years ago I fought the battle of my life. The enemy had such a foothold that I gave up hope of ever being restored to goodness and sanity. Fear gripped me at every turn as I sank deeper into depression and hopelessness.
I was taken by a dear brother to the Harbor Church in Ventura, California where my journey back to safety and sanity began. Along the way, I was taught the power of God’s word. I committed to memory the verses written by the powerful spiritual warriors of the Bible, King David, the Prophet Isaiah, and the Apostle Paul.
These verses became my arsenal for keeping the enemy at bay. But let’s not fool ourselves, the enemy never gives up and the weapons of our warfare must always be sharpened and ready at hand.
These weapons are the best choice for knocking down the enemy in times of relapse. We are fighting a defeated foe who can still ensnare and entice us through fear, lies, and allurements. Constant vigilance in Jesus Christ is the price of freedom. We speak God's word in the natural and He fights our battles in the supernatural.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts against the knowledge of God, bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 10: 4
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4: 12
