Rich in Nepal, summer 2018
I’m in flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The great green valleys and rivers track away toward cloud cloaked peaks higher than our cruising altitude. I’ve been invited to teach on hearing God’s voice. I feel confident to handle the topic although I haven’t always followed what I’ve heard.
Sonam picks me up from the airport on his motorcycle. We negotiate the narrow dusty streets of Pokhara, climbing up to the Ywam base in the low foothills of the Annapurna range. It is a joy to be back again. Three years have flown away like time in a dream.
The summer monsoons are setting in, with rain round the clock. My friend Bir invites me to his house for lunch and along the way we are drenched up to our kneecaps, even with umbrellas.
The first morning has gone well. My Ywam training enables me to lead the students through an introduction to hearing God’s voice. The love of my life is here in the hearts of these students, my Christian brothers and sisters. I love them as Christ loves the church. Hallelujah!
Three things will last forever: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13: 13
A heart of compassion is achieved not through self-effort but through a God-focused life. As we draw near to Him through His Word and His Son, He transforms our focus, thoughts, and feelings. Dr. Charles Stanley
